The debate - my initial impression.
The first couple of questions I would call a virtual tie. If your decision is based on if the US should have entered Iraq, the debate won't matter to you. If this was a boxing match, I think McCain pulled ahead in the next couple of questions on points. However Obama did not make any glaring mistakes. Being ahead in the poll, this is probably enough. Obama did have any annoying habit of trying to talk over McCain, instead of waiting to McCain to finish. I don't think this was a bad as Gore's sighs though. My impression would be the McCain would be a better commander-in-chief. It is close, but I give the edge to McCain.

McCain would be a disaster as Commander and chief and the debates showed it to anyone who was paying attention. If McCain won, within one year we would be at war with Iran, Russia and Venezuela...our debt would skyrocket to even more un precedented leveles and our dollar crash to half its current value if that. If Palin replaces McCain it would be nuclear war, she is really scary have you seen her answer questions she's a real hockey mom, who thinks she's presidential material, she shouldn't even be mayor or govenor much less VP and perhaps P.
This is a no brainer.
The debates clearly showed an Obama who understood what's going on, and a McCain who knows some foreign policy yet his whose decision making process is based on cold war ideology that does not apply to today's world. He still thinks we should have won the Vietnam war when all the evidence proves conclusively that we never should have fought in Vietnam in the first place, that it was a clear mistake and grossly immoral as well.
