Is the media biased - ABC, NBC?

9/5 Why was there not a mention of the New York Times article that Charles Rangel (Democrat New York) Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee of not paying taxes (for 10 or more years?) on Dominican Republic property?

Is the media biased? MSNBC - Hardball

9/5 Attacking the process of Palin not talking to the press right away. Why cant she be given time to learn the positions of McCain? Pretending that she has to be protected from press because she is not capable.

9/5 Shows Obama admitting that the surge suceeded beyond his wildest expectations on the O'Reilly Factor and that had Obama would have taken the troops out of Iraq.

- fairly evenly balanced today

Is the media biased? NBC News

9/2 Kelly O’Donnell In a story on the vetting process, was it necessary to reveal the teenager's pregnancy, a 22 year old drunk driving citation of her husband and a fine for fishing without a licence? How does this information change Palin's qualification for the presidency. Also taking out of context a statement on the Vice-Presidency she made - implying she didn't know what the Vice-President did. And her comment on "fueling speculation that the vetting was incomplete".

9/2 "It appears this was rushed" - the media implying John McCain doesn't know what it was doing despite the campaign saying Palin was fully vetted.

9/2 Running Obama ad linking McCain and Bush in a story about Bush's low approval ratings. We will see whether ads opposing Obama will appear in a proportional manner.

9/3 Shows McCain ad comparing Palin against Obama.

9/4 In a segment on the convictiion of the Mayor of Detroit, NBC did not mention he was a Democrat

Does the left believe in global warming?

I wonder whether the left truly believes that carbon dioxide is causing global warming. Is global warming occurring, YES. 20,000 years ago there were glaciers in Michigan and Northern Europe. I am thankful for global warming. Is global warming going to increase exponentially as those on the left would have you to believe. I don't know, probably has a lot to do with what is happening with the sun and whether or not we have a few volcanoes exploding.

But if the left truly believed that CO2 was the cause, then it would be seem to me that they would be pushing a massive nuclear energy program to eliminate as much unnecessary CO2 emissions as possible. Just a common sense opinion.

Forgetting the Past

Why do democrats try to compare the "Bush" economy with the "Clinton" economy. While watching "Your World with Neil Cavuto" today Obama's economic advisor Dr. Laura Tyson ignores the internet dot com collapse, the business scandals that survived under Clinton watch, Clinton's end of termeconomic downturn, 9-11, the cost of the war on terrorism - which include not only physical wars but also all the security measures, and the rise of oil prices due in part to the Democrats not accepting Bush's energy plan and blocking oil drilling.

Energy - A Jobs Program

We need to revitalize our energy production and delivery system. A side effect will be a massive jobs programs that will benefit all of us with lower energy cost. Jobs to build windmills and solar panels. Jobs to build pipelines and drilling platforms. Jobs to build nuclear plants and clean coal plants. Jobs to build shale oil conversion plants. Jobs to build electrical transmission lines from the desert solar plants and windmills in plains to the populous cities.

Like the national highway program., a national electrical system will benefit everyone in eventual overall lower energy costs.

Is the Media Biased? - ABC News

9/4 On a positive segment about Palin, "... but while Palin maybe working with Evangelicals, it is much less clear she is a home run with women" . To assume all women would agree with Palin seems silly.

9/4 Obama, speaking on the Republican convetion, "you haven't heard a word about how we are going to deal with any ascpect of the economy that is affecting you and your pocketbook day to day" - why didn't the reporter point out that Republicans talked about energy policy - which affects workers and their pocketbooks?

9/3 Charles Gibson: Questions whether Palin is the most qualified of the other choices available to McCain. That is not the question. It is whether she is as qualified as Obama or Biden. The most qualified person may neither want to run nor be elected by the public.

9/3 Charles Gibson: Once again questions whether Palin is qualified. He remarks Obama was vetted through 18 months of campaining? How does campaing make you ready for the Presidency. Is this a sore spot for the media because they were not involved. If the American people choose to select or reject Palin, is that not sufficient.

9/2 Charles Gibson "John McCain is slowly making his way..." - Is this a way to reinforce McCain's age.

9/2 ABC news: Vetting questions: The MaCain campaign says it fully vetted Palin, why question its veracity? Do they think that a pregnant teenager and 22 year old DUI arrest by a spouse before marriage relevant to being a President?

Energy - Cheap Energy

This will be the first of many posts on energy.

Today I heard the Obama campaign say that the Republicans did not address any issues regarding the middle class. I hope this is just a campaign ploy and not ignorance of one of the most important issues affecting the poor and middle class, i.e. the price of energy.

A quick economic review, in a free-market economy, the price of an item will fall when supply exceeds demand and rise when demand exceeds supply. Given that world population is increasing and the peoples of the world want increasing prosperity, it is a common sense that the need for greater energy supplies is undeniable.

It is also common sense that as the price of energy increases, that these extra costs will be passed on to the consumer. Everything that uses energy in production or transportation will see price increases. These price increases proportionally will hurt the poor the most and the rich the least.

Therefore, to increase the prosperity of us all, it is necessary to drive down the cost energy. We must increase the supply of all types of energy and decrease demand where possible. Energy conservation is great but it alone will not lead to increase prosperity.

What this country needs to compete with other countries is relatively cheap energy. The earlier we address our energy problems, the quicker we can drive prices down.

In future blogs I will address this.

Welcome

Thank you for visiting.

Today I start this blog to write down common sense answers to the difficult questions of the day. To question and/or expose the lies and partial truths out there. To give my opinions where facts alone cannot suffice. To learn from others, to explore new ideas, to fight hypocrisy.

The political season is upon us. May we all choose wisely in the days to come.
