Talk or Action - Equal Pay for Women

Obama campaign is saying McCain doesn't support equal pay for equal
work, because he doesn't support a bill that is a trial lawyer
employment bill.Obamam talks and McCain walks.

"On average, women working in Obama's Senate office were paid at least $6,000 below the average man working for the Illinois senator"

"After excluding interns, the average pay for the 30 women on McCain's staff
was $59,104.51. The 16 non-intern males in McCain's office, by
comparison, were paid an average of $56,628.83."

The facts are Obama voted FOR equal pay for equal work and McCain AGAINST , furthermore McCain's vote was the tie breaker I heard, McCain killed that for women, these are the undisputed facts...all the rest trial lawyer stuff is corporate propaganda and out of context...if Obama pays his women less than McCain maybe its because the women voluntarily accept less pay in Obama's camp because they're working to make America a more moral society and not for money, I'm sure McCain has to pay a lot more to women because who would WANT to work for him!!!

Secondly I'm sure its another lie, that Obama pays men more than women, if men in his camp get paid more, maybe its because they are more skilled or working harder... and if true I'm sure Obama himself was unaware and will correct the situation pronto. Campaigns are big organisations you can't control everything but you can correct everything...let's see how this plays out. Probably just more McCain lipstick.

There already is an equal pay law.

"A federal law, the Equal Pay Act (EPA), requires employers to pay male and female employees equally for doing the same work. It was passed in 1963 as an amendment to the Fair Labor Standards Act and can be found at 29 U.S.C. § 206."

As for the "tie breaker"

"Senate Republicans defeated the bill yesterday on a vote of 56 to 42, by blocking a full debate and vote on the bill."

Had he voted, it wouldn't had made a difference.

"that Obama pays men more than women, if men in his camp get paid more, maybe its because they are more skilled or working harder" - you are the case against "equal" pay, that is that all people in the same job title are not all doing equal work. In management there are so many intangibles. Not all quarterbacks are equal, not all lead actors are the same.

anyway what's your point? Obama voted for equal pay for women, McCain against, that's pretty clear who is on who's side!!!! isn't it?

On the tie breaker you misunderstood I was talking about the previous vote not yesterday's.

The quote was taken at the time of the vote, not yesterday. If you checked the article you would have seen the date.

The point is there is an equal pay law. The change to the law which Obama voted for would just created many (unreasonable) lawsuits against companies who would have to justify all pay practices, many long after the people involved were gone.

And the point is Obama does not practice in private what he preaches.
