The end of Social Security as an insurance program..

With the earned income tax credit, the poor with children already are not paying their full share in the "insurance" program. With an additional $500 tax credit that Obama proposes, the low-income people will not be supporting the social security at all. Also the Democrats want to increase (if not eliminate) the ceiling on the amount of earnings subject to Social Security taxes, without an increase in benefits. Thus, Social Security becomes a welfare program and not an insurance program.

If Obama wants to help the poor more than Republicans than isn't that a good thing???? I mean my God these are poor children for Christ sakes?

The Democrats have always insisted it was a "insurance" program. They do not want it to be a welfare program. They feared if it was described as a welfare program it would be disappear. Why do you think they are so against individual accounts?

The only welfare programs in America are for banks, auto companies, airlines and oil companies, the poor have never had welfare in America they've only slavery, police brutality, racism, etc...read Steinbeck if you're so far removed from reality.

Steinbeck died in 1968. A lot has changed since then.
