Speaking on the House floor, Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen said Jesus was a community organizer and "Pontius Pilate was a governor."
Who do they think they are kidding?

"Palin Misfires with Cheap Shot at Community Organizers
The GOP’s gun-toting NRA-member candidate for vice president badly misfired during her acceptance speech with a cheap shot at community organizers.
"I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities,” Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin quipped.
What a gut-buster.
That tawdry remark, of course, was a dig at Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, who spent three years as a community organizer during the 1980s right after graduating from college, before attending law school. He worked for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. His job was to help the residents of Chicago’s South Side – hard hit as factory after factory shut down – find new employment, pay their bills, remain in their homes, and generally rebuild their lives and their neighborhoods.
The Illinois senator is rightly proud of his time as a community organizer, which appears to have entailed a great deal of responsibility, long hours of hard work for meager pay, and no media spotlight. While his peers were launching their careers or furthering their professional education, Obama put his goals on hold to help the poorest of the poor, those who have no resources or connections. What he learned during those years has made him a better lawmaker and citizen..."

Of course the "community organizer" comment was made after the Obama campaign said she was just a small town mayor right after McCain picked her, ignoring everything else she had done afterwards. I, like many others, thought it was a great comment.
What better experience, what better evidence of character and judgement could one have, to demonstrate to the people you wish to lead that you really have their interests at heart, then to be a community organizer at 24 and 25 years of age. Community organizers do what they do because they genuinely want to make their country and society a better place. They sacrifice their precious time and huge potential income, in the case of Obama anyway, to help people in distress.
Service to the American people in need, in this way shows true leadership qualities, someone we the people can count on to work for us and not the big banks, military contractors and oil multi-nationals who could care less about the American people. Look at Halliburton they moved to Dubai, for tax reasons, they just gave the finger to America, after all America has give Halliburton, billions in no bid contracts. What gratitude what patriotism!
McCain by contrast, when he was Obama's age, 24,25, he served his country too, by bombing villages in Vietnam, killing who knows how many thousands of innocent women and children , just because Nixon ordered him to. Never questioning authority, never questioning if bombing poor peasant villages in the name of stopping the spread of communism, was morally acceptable, or the best way to stop communism.
History demonstrates clearly that communism grew out of resentment to capitalist exploitation of the people, people even children working 16 hour days 7 days a week in farms and factories, forced to live and work in squalid and dangerous conditions, unions and strikes crushed with police brutality, etc... the root of communism was in fact resistance to oppression. Anyone paying attention knows that the root of terrorism is the same as for communism. Bin Laden and similar could not succeed if the people did not feel oppressed and exploited.
McCain served the American people, at least the rich industrial American people, by bombing men, women and children in Vietnam who were just resisting oppression and exploitation.
Obama served the American people by helping layed off steel workers find new jobs and distressed mothers find income to feed and house their children.
McCain bombed children, Obama gave poor children hope for a better life.
Who do you think has the better character and judgement to lead the American people? For me its a no brainer!
We can have 4 more years of an America the rest of the World hates, finds grossly immoral and arrogant and with good reason...or we can have change, an America we can all be proud of again, respected for its leadership to protect human rights and equal justice for all.
McCain/Palin = more Republican tyranny and economic depression for the middle classes and a world that hates American tyranny
Obama/Biden = justice and prosperity for the middle classes
and a World that respects America again.
It's a no brainer! The choice has never been so clear!
Being a community organizer is a good thing. Equating that as equal to being a President is illogical. Ignoring the executive experience that being a governor is dishonest. By calling Palin just a small time mayor, the Obama campaign highlighted Obama lack of executive experience to Palin. Obama was community organizer, state senator, and U.S. senator; Palin was mayor and governor. Obama failed to make a decision over 100 times as a state senator. As U.S. senator he voted with his party 97% of the time. Palin made decision, fought corruption, and fought the oil companies.
But in the end, it will probably depend on two things. Do you feel Obama will proactively protect the country against its adversaries? And do you believe the country should be very liberal or moderate to conservative. With a far left leadership in the House and Senate, an Obama win will move the country to the far left, a McCain win will lead to a mix moderate - conservative country.
The Democratic party is the far left?
Cmon you've got to be kidding? The far left is the Green party, Ralf Nader and Cynthia McKinney, and even they would be considered only left or a socialist party in Europe.
The far left in America as no power whatsoever. In America we have the far right Bush Cheney and the Neocons, Palin and McCain, the right the bluedogs and Clinton Democrats and the Center Obama Biden Pelosi and the center wing of the Democratic Party, the left the Green Party, and the far left, the protesters, code pink, etc who have no power whatsoever. There is no far left in America. Cmon even Pelosi didn't have the courage to impeach Bush I wouldn't call that far left. Obama has even moved to the right to win the campaign, look at how he let the telecoms off the hook and wants to surge in Afghanistan that's not left that's right not even center.
If you placed on the members of Congress in a line with the most liberal on the left and the most conservative on the right, Obamam, Biden, Pelosi and Reid would be on the far-left. McCain would be just right of center.
Yes, the true wackos on both the right and left have no power.
There are a lot of Democrats to the left of Obama; Kucinich, Waxman, Feingold... and Biden is way to the right of Democrats. Yet when you take Congress as a whole you are right Obama is on the left because 75% of Congress is to the far right, you've got all the Republicans and half the Democrats on the far right, that makes it easy to be on the left, if you are not a friggen neocon you are de facto on the left (even if your politics is center right like Obama's)...what is wrong with Americans to let this happen...??? How could we have put a fascist like Bush as President, if Obama doesn't win this time it is curtains for America and the American people will deserve it.
Obama has the most liberal voting record in the senate in 2007, Biden third most, according to one source.
