A Dictator in Action: Chavez closes 34 Radio Stations

Chavez Closes 34 Radio Stations

Venezuelan TV station is stormed by supporters of Hugo Chavez

"The raid came amid a government crackdown on critics of Chavez's socialist revolution, a campaign which human rights groups have condemned as an attack on free speech. In recent days the government has revoked the licences of dozens of radio stations and proposed a law which would jail people deemed guilty of "media crimes" for up to four years."

I'm glad to see the mainstream media has finally caught on to the repression of free speech in Venezuela, Democracy Now has reported on free speech repression in Venezuela long ago, Chavez won't last long if he keeps this up the Venezuelan people will revolt and he doesn't have the power over the police like the Mullahs in Iran...I suspect Chavez will be forced to open back up the media relatively soon, otherwise he'll be voted out in the next election.
