"Six members of the Congressional Black Caucus may have violated House ethics rules by attending a three-day conference paid for by a number of powerful corporations early last month on the Caribbean island of Saint Martin."
"Rangel could have been working on his beach body for that Caribbean conference by exercising in his semi-secret personal gym inside the Capitol. "

Shame on him for not checking out all the repercussions of that little trip.
Why do you single out only the black caucus?... practically all our congress persons have been bribed by corporate lobbyists at one time or another with perhaps the exception of a few people like Kucinich and Feingold. As a matter of fact I've noticed on all your posts that you only criticize blacks or liberals or Democrats...this does not seem very "common sense" to me???? Where's the balance and the common sense? Maybe you should change the name of the blog to something more in keeping with your selection of stories blatantly biased against liberal thinking. Common sense to me means things like being against wars of aggression, or working to reduce nuclear arms worldwide including here at home to zero, or promoting clean renewable energy, or nationalizing the Federal Reserve and the military contractors or ending poverty in the World, etc ...I don't see much common sense type posts on this blog...???
Dan, that kind of thinking left the party back in the 60s. From Jerry Falwell to Rush Limbaugh to Jack Abramoff to the Bush wackos, conservatives have been swept in the last two elections.
And unlike before, they won't be comeback.
Conservatives need to make up their mind whether they're a party of torture, or liberty. Fiscal restraint, or endless deficit spending. They wrecked the economy during the 80s, and then Bush I wrecked it again during the early 90s, and now Bush II finished the job for at least a generation. When your children asks who's their daddy, point to the Chinese guy -- HE OWNS US because of the failed policies of conservatism. (And please don't say that "real conservatism has yet to be tried!" You had majorities in both houses of Congress and the White House unfettered for six years, and the conservatives' biggest accomplishment was losing the American public tens of trillions of dollars of their hard-earned wealth.)
Get rid of every crook in government, since it hurts all taxpayers. But conservatives don't think like that because they're stuck believing the sheer excrement that dribbles from Rush Limbaugh's mouth. Liberals, on the same hand, need to distance themselves from the nuts at MSNBC and CNN, which now are no better than Fox was at its worst. By the way, blame Rupert Murdoch for sending down the memo not to criticize the negro on Fox after June 1st. Except for his 'associations,' no one on that channel went after the guy, according to a new bio.
Zaine, the way you used "the negro" in your previous post was blatantly racist and wrong, just because Murdoch uses the same racist language doesn't make it any less racist. Even the term racist is a misnomer because there is only one race the human race, skin color is no different than eye color in determining if race distinctions exist in humans.
As for conservatives, they are definitely not Republicans because Republicans lobby for war and conservatives lobby for peace, just like the progressive wing of the Democrats. Actually I think the whole distinction between conservatives and liberals is rather stupid...there is common sense like being against bombing third world children for oil and immoral stupidity like bombing the Iraqi and Afghan people for 9/11 when we should have been going after Bin Laden who was supposedly responsible (though I still find it hard to believe a small terrorist outfit could have penetrated our multi trillion dollar defense system to attack and bring down with explosives not one but three New York towers AND the Pentagon without some major inside help).
