New Poll - Green Energy or Auto Industry

If you had to choose, would you rather the government bail out the auto industry or invest the money into crating a "green" energy infrastructure?

If we were not in such a bad economic status right then I would vote for the green energy. But the auto industry effects way too many people to let it go under right now. As many as 2.5 million jobs could be lost. You have to take into account the steel companies, parts manufacturers, rail or truck delivery and many more. The auto industry injects billions into our economy. "suppliers provide about 70% of the content in most automobiles, from the seats to specialized bolts on the suspension -- everything except the sheet metal and the motor assembly. So when Ford, Chrysler or General Motors Corp. sneeze, 600,000 workers in places as widely scattered as Peachtree City, Ga., and Pittsburg, Kan., are likely to catch cold." And that is just in the assembly.

If the auto industry workers (and retirees) make $20 to $40 more than the average worker, should the taxpayers pay for their benefits?

Their retirement money should be in a seperate account as is the case of most union workers and therefore not an issue for taxpayers.
