Center Right Wins in Germany

Merkel signals cautious reforms in new coalition

"German Chancellor Angela Merkel signaled on Monday she would resist pressure for radical reforms from her likely new coalition partners, the pro-business Free Democrats (FDP), and stick to a path of gradual change."

"Economists welcomed the result, saying it would herald pro-market policies, and Germany's blue chip DAX stock market index rose 2.78 percent."

"The SPD was the biggest loser and will join the Greens and Left party in opposition after plummeting more than 11 points to 23.0 percent, its worst result since World War Two. "

Is this a harbinger of elections in 2010 for the U.S.?

The Germans, the French and the Italians have all voted right wing recently not because the people prefer the right wing but because they were showing their left wing parties that they were unhappy with the slow progress the left was making and even more unhappy with the left acting like the right, in France for example, since the right has been in power year after year health care insurance has moved, slowly but surely, from govt. to private companies, the costs to the people have gone up considerably (from about 100 euros/yr taxes plus premiums to about 600 to 1500/yr taxes plus premiums today, for a small family, depending on your insurer (still much better than in the USA but not nearly as good as 10 years ago), the people in Europe are as stupid as the people in America, maybe stupider because remember they voted for Hitler and Mussolini , yet we did vote for Bush...anyway, Obama won the last election because people were unhappy with the way the right handled the economy, that's why Europeans voted right for the same reasons. Yet what the people don't get yet is if you keep voting to the right the economy gets worse and worse and if you keep voting left it gets better (Europe is weathering the crisis much better than the USA)..history demonstrates this yet the people don't read history, instead they go back and forth....so in conclusion you may be right 2010 looks good for Republicans because the left in America are unhappy with the left so they will vote right or not vote at all, letting the right win, just like what happened in Europe.
