Imagine a builder builds a subdivision of 10 ten houses all alike. He sells them each for $100,000.
Next, a newcomer buys the first house for $110,000. The seller then buys his neighbor house for what he sold his plus $10,0000, i.e. the second house sells for $120,000 and the tenth house sells for $200,000. The tenth seller than buys the first house for $210,000 from the newcomer. So the newcomer has made $100,000. And because each of the houses are the same and worth what the last house was sold for, each homeowner now owns a $210,000 for which they paid $100,000 plus $10,000. Thus they turned a $1,100,000 investment into $2,100,000, or a $1,0000,000 profit.
Then, they try to sell the houses, find their houses are not worth what they paid for it and ask the Obama administration to make up the difference.

Reparations - The unfortunate truth.
I was listening to someone who said the whites need to pay reparations to blacks for slavery. Since no one alive today was a slave, the blacks should perversely thank slavery.
It is an unfortunate truth that anyone who ancestor had to move/or was moved because of a bad situation exists today because of that tragedy. Example: Assume you are a decadent of Irish person who forced to leave Ireland and go to he United States because of the rotten treatment by the English landlords. If that had not happen you would not exist today. It is not a choice of whether you would be living in Ireland or the U.S., it is a choice between existing or never been born.
You can receive reparations for anything that happen before your conception, for without those actions you would not have been born.

Is Reuters Anti-Israeli?
Another_Cropped_Reuters_Photo_Deletes_Another_Knife_-_And_a_Pool_of_Blood
"One picture cropped to remove a knife might be explained as incompetence or a simple mistake.
But now we have two pictures from the “peace activists” that were cropped by someone at Reuters to remove knives in the hands of the activists, as they attempted to take soldiers hostage."
Good, Bad, and Ugly
Reader reaction to Reuters news
"Shame on you for editing (cropping) photos depicting wounded Israeli soldiers in a way that hides the cold weapons (knives and metal clubs) in the hands of the “peaceful” voyagers.
Unfortunately, Reuters looses its stature as an unbiased media outlet time and time again."
Blogosphere alleges another Reuters 'fauxtogate'
Additionally, the bloodied hand of another soldier, presumably sprawled out on the deck behind the first soldier, can be seen in the background.
Yet in the shot initially released by Reuters, none of these details are visible, as the photo shows only the first soldier being dragged and a man in an orange life vest standing above him.

Spot light: Woodrow Willson, Progressive
Are you a progressive?
http://www.academia.org/progressive-segregation/
"Few presidents are as revered as Woodrow Wilson in academia. He was, after all, the last academic elected to America’s highest office. "
“I do approve of the segregation that is being attempted in several of the departments,” President Wilson wrote in his first year in office. “I think if you were here on the ground you would see, as I seem to see, that it is distinctly to the advantage of the colored people themselves that they should be organized, so far as possible and convenient, in district bureaus where they will center their work.”
"Similarly, when U. S. forces entered the “war to end all wars,” President Wilson may have wanted to “make the world safe for democracy” but as commander-in-chief he did so with a segregated military. “World War I brought no improvement in Wilson’s policy towards blacks,” Bartlett writes. “They were put in segregated military units, mostly relegated to support positions, and kept out of combat.” "

Segregation in the federal government
In 1912, "an unprecedented number"[5] of African Americans left the Republican Party to cast their vote for Democrat Wilson. They were encouraged by his promises of support for their issues. The issue of segregation came up early in his presidency when, at an April 1913 cabinet meeting, Albert Burleson, Wilson's Postmaster General, complained about working conditions at the Railway Mail Service. Offices and restrooms became segregated, sometimes by partitions erected between seating for white and African-American employees in Post Office Department offices, lunch rooms, and bathrooms, as well as in the Treasury and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. It also became accepted policy for "Negro" employees of the Postal Service to be reduced in rank or dismissed. And unlike his predecessors Grover Cleveland and Theodore Roosevelt, Wilson accommodated Southern opposition to the re-appointment of an African American to the position of Register of the Treasury and other positions within the federal government. This set the tone for Wilson's attitude to race throughout his presidency, in which the rights of African Americans were sacrificed, for what he felt would be the more important longer term progress of the common good.[5][76]

Helen Thomas: Liberal Lady of the Press
Will the Lame Stream Media take note of the Antisemitism of one of their leading ladies?
Will she get the same treatment as Mel Gibson? What would happen if a conservative said "all blacks should go back to Africa"? Will she fired, or denied access to the White House?
"In a written statement issued Friday, Thomas apologized, saying, “I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians.”
She said the comments “do not reflect” her “heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance.”
“May that day come soon,” she added."

Or because she is a member of the left will this be swept all under the rug?

Notes on Capitalism: A Love Story
While M. Moore makes entertaining films, he looks at things from a very bias view. Of course that is his right in this freedom-loving country. He opens up with sad stories of people losing their homes. A telling statement is the difference between "the people who have nothing and the people who have it all." My question, why didn't M. Moore, a very rich person, loan these people money? He says that is "Capitalism", a system of taking of giving. No - it is not "Capitalism". What was shown were people who didn't pay their bills. That could of happen in any economic system. "Free enterprise" is not capitalism. Consumerism is not capitalism.
The story of Judge Ciavarella has nothing to do with "capitalism". It was an abuse of the judicial system that could have happen under any economic system. Moore acts as if prison abuse occurs only in "for-profit" institutions.
The story about pilot salaries is just another example of how people make stupid decisions. If there were less pilots, the salaries would increase. Because people want to fly, they are willing to accept less money. You could set a minimum salary for pilots, but that would just leave more unemployed pilots.
The story of the company taking out insurance on an employee is not an example of capitalism. Would Moore want to prevent companies getting insurance? Is he saying these companies are trying to kill it's employees? If so, than that itself is a crime. Again, nothing do to with capitalism.
Capitalism is not Christianity and has never meant to be. Capitalism is not "fairness" of outcome.
The bailout was not capitalism. At least Moore did not hide the fact the Democrats in Congress were responsible with the Bush administration for the bailout bill.
In the end M. Moore shows the socialist he wants others to be, but how come he doesn't give away all of his money? In the end he is just a hypocrite.

The Echo Chamber of the Chris Mattews Show
The last two weeks have shown how far left the show and panelists are. They accuse Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck of sedition. They try to link the "birth-ers" with Glenn Beck, et. al., though he and O'Reilly, etc., have shown the "birth-ers" to be wrong. They claim the right is calling the Obama government illegitimate, which is untrue, but where we they when the left was calling Bush illegitimate because of the supreme court decision? I've even heard the old argument that Gore had more votes, though that doesn't matter constitutionally. Sarah Palin's comment to "reload" is neither seditious or calling for violence. Get a clue left.
To pretend that Andrew Sullivan represents conservatives is a joke.

Liberal vs Conservative
Found on the web:
If you ever wondered what side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!
Lot of truth here!
If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat..
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.
If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
(Unless it's a foreign religion, of course!)
If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.
If a conservative reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A liberal will delete it because he's "offended".
Well, I forwarded it to you.

Obama Mocks Republican 'Armageddon' Rhetoric
You may have seen the above video. However, signing the health care bill is more like planting kudzu. Kudzu was once thought beneficial but is now considered a pest weed costing $500 million a year to control.
Congressman doesn't care about Constitution
Congressman: 'I Don’t Worry About the Constitution' on Health Care Overhaul
When the people who take an oath to uphold the Constitution don't care, then this nation is in trouble. If the peaceful people protests, like those of the Tea Parties, are ignored by those in power, then don't be surprised if some people take a more active approach.
There are many groups, both left and right, that will use this discontent to try to fracture this nation. Did the people in the 1840's anticipate the Civil War? By the time the policies of this leftist controlled Congress are fully felt will we be able to step back from the brink? Many people will not allow their liberty to be taken from them.

Do Not Be Fooled - Obama allows "exploration".
No permits until 2012? This is probably just a way to get his cap-and-trade bill passed. Just like his promise to have the health care negotiations on C-SPAN, this is a promise that can be easily broken.
When actual drilling is able to begin he can change his mind again, probably right after the 2012 elections. Why not drill in the oil rich Pacific and known oil-rich areas in Alaska? Why not ANWR? Could it be that Virginia and the southern east cost vote Republican, and California, Oregon and Washington vote Democratic?

Health Care Bill Notes
I was watching a Democrat governor from a North State stating that the Lobbyists had prevented a lot things he wished would be in the bill (like getting drugs from Canada). I wish the reporter had asked him, "Which of the Democratic legislators who voted yes on the bill are in the pockets of these lobbyists?"
My thoughts: I buy health insurance to protect me from health care bills over $100,000 and to keep the costs of bills when I visit the hospital. Those without insurance are sometimes charged 3 times what those who have an insurance. Just like I don't buy car insurance to pay for car washes, gasoline, and oil changes; I don't buy health insurance to pay for doctor visits, etc.
Good news, in the future (2014?) I will no longer have to buy insurance. If I get a major illness I can buy a policy then, since there will no longer be any denial for pre-existing conditions. And though the law states there will be a fine for those without insurance (up to $325 or 2.8%? of household income), the law also states that the IRS cannot place on liens, interests, etc. So if you aren't bother by the IRS calling you, there is nothing else they can do.

Health Care Bill Passes
He is my prediction: This bill will be considered the worst action by the Congress since Prohibition.
True there are some good parts, like Democrats like to quote polls about, but as a whole this bill is a disaster.
The mandate to require people to buy insurance is unconstitutional. To require someone to buy a product or service is in essence slavery. If this provision is upheld by the courts, you can just throw away the Constitution.
Some like to say it is equivalent to buying auto insurance. But it is more like forcing people who don't have cars to buy auto insurance because they might one day buy a car or ride in a taxi. Also auto insurance does not pay for gas or oil changes.

Why did a Canadian minister come to the U.S. for health care?
My heart, my choice,' Williams says, defending decision for U.S. heart surgery
"An unapologetic Danny Williams says he was aware his trip to the United States for heart surgery earlier this month would spark outcry, but he concluded his personal health trumped any public fallout over the controversial decision."
"I did not sign away my right to get the best possible health care for myself when I entered politics."
"I would've been criticized if I had stayed in Canada and had been perceived as jumping a line or a wait list. ... I accept that. That's public life," he said."

Which came first?
I was listening to the radio in car when the question popped into my mind: "Which came first the global warming hysteria or "blood for oil"?
The left has a problem, it was against nuclear energy and against foreign wars to protect the oil supply. It was against coal because of pollution, acid rain, etc. Despite efforts since the 1970s, solar and wind energy could not compete on a price basis with coal, oil and nuclear.
The left was successful in stopping the growth of nuclear power with a movie and a small accident at three mile island. Then they stopped drilling off-shores for aesthetic reasons. And they were successful in ANWR for no logical reasons at all. Unfortunately it made us more dependent on foreign sources of oil. The left tried to stop the war in Kuwait/Iraq by yelling "No blood for Oil". But in fact the left actions early made it necessary to protect our oil supplies. That led to our forces being in Saudi Arabia, which led to 9-11, which led to the second Iraqi war.
The left needed a new way to stop our use of oil, "global warming" became the new mantra of left.

More Global Warming Mistakes
Climate scientists withdraw journal claims of rising sea levels
Another day, another global warming fallacy exposed
"From the Guardian in England: “Scientists have been forced to withdraw a study on projected sea level rise due to global warming after finding mistakes that undermined the findings.”
The newspaper cited the Nature Geoscience publication, which published a retraction on its prediction that the seas would rise a whopping 89 centimeters (a little over 2 feet) by 2100."
"Nature Geoscience said in its retraction: “First, we tested the sensitivity of our results to the length of the time step used in the integration of the model for the period of deglaciation, which we found to be robust. However, we overlooked that the simulations of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries are sensitive to this time step, which led to an overestimation of the sea-level response to warming in the simulations for these centuries.
“Second, we did not include the effect of the uncertainty in the temperature reconstructions since the Medieval Climate Anomaly in our uncertainty estimates for the twenty-first-century projections. This led to an inconsistency between the twentieth-century simulation used to test the predictive capability of the model and the twenty-first-century simulation, owing to a provisional allowance for warming since the Little Ice Age in the twentieth-century simulations.”"

The Continuing Climate Meltdown
"It has been a bad—make that dreadful—few weeks for what used to be called the "settled science" of global warming, and especially for the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that is supposed to be its gold standard."
"First it turns out that the Himalayan glaciers are not going to melt anytime soon, notwithstanding dire U.N. predictions. Next came news that an IPCC claim that global warming could destroy 40% of the Amazon was based on a report by an environmental pressure group. "
"The Nature study, Mr. Leake writes, "did not assess rainfall but in fact looked at the impact on the forest of human activity such as logging and burning.""
" the IPCC neglected to include Mr. Arnell's corollary finding, which is that global warming could also increase water resources for as many as six billion people."
"the IPCC again based its assertion on a single study that was not peer-reviewed."

Her lengthy Saturday night keynote address to the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville and her debut on the Sunday morning talk show circuit with Fox News' Chris Wallace showed off a public figure at the top of her game -- a politician who knows who she is and how to sell herself, even with notes on her palm. More Americans Trust Fox
link
PPP is a democratic leaning organization.
"
Our newest survey looking at perceptions of ABC News, CBS News, CNN, Fox News, and NBC News finds Fox as the only one that more people say they trust than distrust. 49% say they trust it to 37% who do not.

State of the Union Speech or the "1984" speech.
Listening to his speech reminded me of the book of 1984, were history can be re-written and nothing that he said can be believed.
His speech was delivered well, but in the end was "white-noise". It is as if he never left the campaign trail, I guess we can look forward to the 4 year campaign season from now on.

Obama Administration Steers Lucrative No-Bid Contract for Afghan Work to Dem Donor
"Despite President Obama's long history of criticizing the Bush administration for "sweetheart deals" with favored contractors, the Obama administration this month awarded a $25 million federal contract for work in Afghanistan to a company owned by a Democratic campaign contributor without entertaining competitive bids, Fox News has learned. Read the Constitution.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. - First Amendment to the United States Constitution
I wish our President would read the Constitution.
Obama: Ruling 'strikes at our democracy'
If the Democrats want to limit the free speech of corporations, then they should propose a amendment to the Constitution.
And if you think corporations shouldn't have free speech rights, then tell me why "Media" corporations (i.e. the "Press") should have unlimited free speech rights while other corporations shouldn't have any.

Fox News Ratings Explode On Scott Brown Victory Night
Fox News was the only one to show both speeches fully.
"The network saw its biggest night since Election Night 2008, averaging a staggering 6.161 million total viewers in primetime. For comparison, that's almost double CNN (1.503 million total viewers), MSNBC (1.138 million total viewers), and HLN (668,000 total viewers) combined."
"Interestingly, both "Hannity" and "On the Record with Greta van Susteren" (6.399 million total viewers) averaged more than the "Jay Leno Show" on NBC (5.994 million total viewers)."

Obama Review
Poll from January 2009.
WILL GUANTANAMO BE CLOSED BY FEB 2010?
YES - 83%, NO - 16% (5-1)
Oh well, I guess I was the only one who was right.
At one year Obama appears to be a failure. For the left he hasn't closed Gitmo, increased soldiers in Afghanistan, and still has soldiers in Iraq. He failed to elect governors in Virginia and New Jersey and a senator from Massachusetts.
Unemployment, despite his "stimulus" bill, has risen to 10% despite his promise it wouldn't rise above 8% if the bill was passed.
He went back on his promises to not allow lobbyists and to be more transparent. His back-room dealings doomed Health Care Reform.
He lost money on bailouts of GM and Chrysler.
Who won on the left: the auto unions who where bailed out and shown preference over bond holders.
Who also won: Goldman Sachs and the French Banks in the AIG bailout. The unemployed with extensions of benefits and COBRA subsidies. Special interests and left causes in the "stimulus" bills and spending bills with thousands of earmarks.

Has Chavez lost his mind?
Hugo Chavez Mouthpiece Says U.S. Hit Haiti With 'Earthquake Weapon
"Citing an alleged report from Russia's Northern Fleet, the Venezuelan strongman's state mouthpiece ViVe TV shot out a press release saying the 7.0 magnitude Haiti quake was caused by a U.S. test of an experimental shockwave system that can also create "weather anomalies to cause floods, droughts and hurricanes.""
"The ultimate goal of the test attack in Haiti, the report reads, is the United States' "planned destruction of Iran through a series of earthquakes designed to topple the current Islamic regime.""

UN climate report riddled with errors on glaciers
UN climate report riddled with errors on glaciers
"Cogley, who wrote a letter about the problems to Science magazine that was published online Wednesday, cited these mistakes:
• The paragraph starts, "Glaciers in the Himalayas are receding faster than in any other part of the world." Cogley and Michael Zemp of the World Glacier Monitoring System said Himalayan glaciers are melting at about the same rate as other glaciers.
• It says that if the Earth continues to warm, the "likelihood of them disappearing by the 2035 and perhaps sooner is very high." Nowhere in peer-reviewed science literature is 2035 mentioned. However, there is a study from Russia that says glaciers could come close to disappearing by 2350. Probably the numbers in the date were transposed, Cogley said.
• The paragraph says: "Its total area will likely shrink from the present 500,000 to 100,000 square kilometers by the year 2035." Cogley said there are only 33,000 square kilometers of glaciers in the Himalayas.
• The entire paragraph is attributed to the World Wildlife Fund, when only one sentence came from the WWF, Cogley said. And further, the IPCC likes to brag that it is based on peer-reviewed science, not advocacy group reports. Cogley said the WWF cited the popular science press as its source.
• A table says that between 1845 and 1965, the Pindari Glacier shrank by 2,840 meters. Then comes a math mistake: It says that's a rate of 135.2 meters a year, when it really is only 23.5 meters a year. "

Scott Brown for President?
Already some pundits are mentioning Brown for President. Granted, after listening him give his acceptance speech I can see why some would pick him as a rising star. I guess in the age of Obama anything can happen. Brown would have more experience in 2012 than Obama did in 2008.
More Global Warming Deceptions
UN: Himalayan glaciers warning not backed up
"A U.N. warning that Himalayan glaciers were melting faster than any other place in the world and may be gone by 2035 was not backed up by science, U.N. climate experts said Wednesday — an admission that could energize climate change critics."
""The health of the glaciers is a cause of grave concern, but the IPCC's alarmist position that they would melt by 2035 was not based on an iota of scientific evidence," Ramesh was quoted as saying by The Times of India."

Tone Deaf Liberals
I watch MSNBC coverage of Scott Brown's win of the Massachusetts Senate election. It is amazing how their internal biases blind them to the truth.
The refuse to accept Brown came from 30 points down to winning by 5% (at the time of this writing) at the same time Obama et. al. were making back room deals on the "health care reform" bill.
Is it possible that the people feel they were fooled by Obama's promises of being "open" and "bipartisan". That instead of being a candidate of the middle that he is left of every president since, who, Wilson? (Tell me which recent President is Obama right of.) That is only right (of Carter and Clinton?) on Afghanistan.

Why Palin?
I have been asked why I am interested in Sarah Palin? Basically, because the left is trying to destroy her.
When McCain choose her to be V.P. my first thoughts were: McCain knows he going to lose to Obama and this was a gesture to woman. But after doing some research I thought she was better candidate than Obama. But I am a conservation on defense and finance.
The country was in a mood to get rid of Bush and Republicans. Obama ran a good primary was almost assured a victory. But McCain pick of Palin put him ahead briefly. Instead of just allowing the post convention bump to subside, the "liberal" left and media went out to try to destroy her.
After McCain mishandled the financial "crisis," he sunk in the polls and Obama won as expected.
So Palin should have retreated to obscurity, finish out a term or two in Alaska and then return to national prominence. But the left saw something they couldn't handle. A woman who walked the conservative walk. An intelligent, pretty woman who didn't have an abortion, who fought against corruption and believed in conservative values. They had to continue the verbal assaults in the national media and attacking her with ethics lawsuits. Thus making her a martyr to the conservative cause.
What impresses me most is her positive attitude. She doesn't go out to seek to destroy her adversaries, but turns lemons into lemonade by becoming a best-seller author.
I don't know if she wants to be President, but I know she will continue to be a thorn in the side to the liberal left and east-west coast elitists.

Another Hit Job on Palin on 60 minutes
Steve Schmidt and the authors of the new book, Game Change, going for another hit job on Palin. Schmidt was the one who believed Joe Liberman would be acceptable to the GOP faithful. He places everything in the most negative way. Take for example the debate prep. He says people were telling him she was overwhelmed and unprepared. But then admits she did well in the debate.
The people at CBS and Schmidt must be really afraid of Palin.
Update: The book mentions Biden also had a horrible debate prep, why didn't 60 Minutes cover that? 2/3 of program was devoted to Palin, with most of the rest devoted to Hillary. Why not cover what the book said about Reid (which other media carried)? Bill Clinton?

A letter I sent to USA Today.
Regarding Pilkey and Young's "Doubt global warming? The planet won't tell a lie."
Once again they miss the point. The earth is a lot warmer than it was during the last Ice Age. The earth constantly changes, but the point should be "Does man-made CO2 have a significant impact on global warming?" According to the alarmists we should be increasingly getting warmer as more and more CO2 enters the atmosphere. However the temperature has defied their models for the last 10 years, according to some sources.
If man-made CO2 does not significantly affect global warming, we are wasting time and resources trying to eliminate CO2 emissions. If the sea level rises regardless of CO2 emissions, then we need to move people away from the shorelines or build seawalls and dikes. If the glaciers are going to disappear we need to provide alternative water supplies.
My suspicion is that "global warming" is being used to control pollution, capitalism, etc. If CO2 was the culprit, then why are they not supporting the building of 100 nuclear power plants to provide the energy our economy needs?

Are you disappointed in Obama?
Granted I felt Obama was going to lean to the left, but I am extremely disappointed in Obama's disregarding his promises. He said he was a candidate of change. He was going to veto bills with earmarks - not happening. He was going to allow CSPAN in on the negotiations of the health care bill, Pelosi just ignores him (despite multiple promises on the campaign trail).
He may look good and speak well, but the few things conservatives could hope for have been trashed. To me he has been a grand disappointment.
